AGGÜDO means "harmony" in Amharic, a concept that inspires everything we do. Founded by an Ethiopian immigrant with a deep love for coffee and its rich traditions, our mission is to share the magic of Ethiopian coffee culture with the world. Ethiopia is not just the birthplace of coffee—it’s where coffee ceremonies are a daily ritual, connecting family, friends, and communities over the aroma of freshly roasted beans.

From Ethiopia to Calgary

When we arrived in Calgary, we brought our heritage and a dream of sharing the unparalleled flavours of Ethiopian coffee. Starting from humble beginnings, AGGÜDO Coffee Roasters was built on hard work, resilience, and an unshakable commitment to quality. Today, we’re proud to roast our beans locally, blending Ethiopian traditions with modern techniques to create exceptional coffee for our community.

Our Coffee Philosophy

Pronunciation: ah-GOO-doh

Aggüdo is a term in our Tigrinya language that has been passed down from generation to generation and ancestor to ancestor — now resting in our hands. Although the word may be literally translated to ‘hut’ or ‘shelter’, the intention behind the spirit of the word is rooted in refuge, safety, community, gathering, and belonging.
